Customcells und das deutsche Start-up-Unternehmen Lilium fahren die Produktion von Batteriezellen mit hohem Siliziumanteil hoch. Der deutsche Batteriehersteller soll fortan wöchentlich Zellen aus seinem Werk in Tübingen an Lilium liefern. Das Unternehmen gilt als Entwickler des ersten vollelektrischen senkrecht startenden und landenden Fluggeräts („electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing aircraft“, „eVTOL“).
Erfüllung der Luftfahrt-Standards
Die Produktionslinie sei auf dem richtigen Weg, die Luftfahrt-Standards für Rückverfolgbarkeit und Prozesskontrolle zu erfüllen. Die Zellen werden mit Hilfe einer Kombination aus üblichen Produktionsverfahren und einer Prälithiierungsmethode hergestellt. Eigenen Angaben zufolge plant Customcells, rund 3,5 Gigawattstunden jährlich zu produzieren.
Anodentechnologie von Ionblox
Lilium lizenziert exklusiv die Silizium-Anodenzellentechnologie seines kalifornischen Partnerunternehmens Ionblox und hatte erst im vergangenen Monat seine Beteiligung an dem Entwickler erhöht. Ionblox ist auf Batteriezellen für die emissionsarme Luftfahrt spezialisiert und arbeitet derzeit an der Erweiterung seiner Produktion.
Zellproduktion in Deutschland gesichert
Lilium wolle mit dem Bau von sechs Flugzeugen beginnen, die noch in diesem Jahr zugelassen werden sollen, bevor der erste Flug mit Besatzung in der zweiten Hälfte des Jahres 2024 stattfinden soll. Lilium hatte bereits 2021 einen Vertrag mit Customcells abgeschlossen, um die Zellproduktion in Deutschland zu sichern. Das Unternehmen Customcells, das auch Partner von Porsche ist, garantiert Produktionskapazitäten in Tübingen, wo es mit dem Anlagenhersteller Manz AG zusammenarbeitet.
