Der schwedische Batterieproduzent Northvolt hat einen Liefervertrag für Kupferfolien mit dem südkoreanischen Konzern SK abgeschlossen. Der Vertrag für die anodenseitig verwendeten Elektrodenfolien beträgt umgerechnet eine Milliarde Euro.

Das Liefervolumen soll 80 Prozent des Bedarfs an Kupferfolie von Northvolt decken. Der Vertrag mit SK Nexilis sieht eine Belieferung von 2024 bis einschließlich 2028 vor.

Mögliche Kupfer-Lieferung aus Polen

Aus welchem Werk des Konzerns die Belieferung stattfinden wird, geht aus der Meldung nicht hervor. Derzeitig errichtet SK Nexilis ein Werk zur Produktion von Kupferfolien in der polnischen Stadt Stalow Wola, die 2024 die Produktion beginnen soll. Eine Lieferung aus dieser Fabrik gilt als wahrscheinlich. Mit einer Produktionskapazität von 50.000 Tonnen ist die polnische Fabrik die größte des koreanischen Mischkonzerns. Derzeitig plant SK Nexilis  in diesem Jahr den Bau einer Kupferfolienfabrik in Malaysia abzuschließen und den Grundstein für zwei weitere Werke in den USA und Kanada zu legen.
