Der Maschinenbauer Manz AG hat im Rahmen des Ende Mai 2022 geschlossenen Kooperationsvertrags mit der Daimler Truck AG einen Auftrag im niedrigen zweistelligen Millionen-Euro-Bereich erhalten. Die Vereinbarung umfasse erste Anlagen für das „InnoLab Battery“ in Mannheim.
10.000 Quadratmeter Fläche
Die sich im Aufbau befindliche Einrichtung soll in der finalen Ausbaustufe auf einem Areal von etwa 10.000 Quadratmetern mehr als 60 Anlagen beheimaten. Mit der strategischen Kooperation und der Beteiligung an der Manz AG lege Daimler Truck den Grundstein für die Gestaltung eines CO2-neutralen Transports und für die Transformation von konventionellen hin zu alternativen Antriebstechnologien.
Entwicklung eigener Batteriesysteme
Eigenen Angaben zufolge will Daimler Truck Innovationsführer in der Nutzfahrzeugindustrie werden. Dafür seien Batteriezellen erforderlich, die den speziellen Anforderungen in Lastkraftwagen und Bussen gerecht werden. Die Forschungserkenntnisse des „InnoLab Battery“ sollen als Basis für eine erfolgreiche Entwicklung eigener Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen sowie für deren Produktion und Montage zu kompletten Batteriesystemen dienen.
