Northvolt hat die Unterzeichnung einer Wandelanleihe in Höhe von umgerechnet 1,1 Milliarden Euro bekanntgegeben. Das schwedische Unternehmen wolle mit den finanziellen Mitteln den Ausbau der Produktion von Batteriezellen und Kathodenmaterial in Europa vorantreiben, um die schnell wachsende Batterienachfrage decken zu können.
15 Geldgeber beteiligt
An der Kapitalerhöhung beteiligten sich die Investoren AMF, AP funds 1-4 (über das gemeinsame Unternehmen 4 to 1 Investments), ATP, Ava Investors, Baillie Gifford, Compagnia di San Paolo über Fondaco Growth, Folksam Group, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, IMAS Foundation, Olympia Group, OMERS Capital Markets, PCS Holding, Swedbank Robur, TM Capital und Volkswagen Group. „Wir werden weiterhin hart daran arbeiten, unser Versprechen einzulösen, die grünste Batterie der Welt zu bauen“, sagt Northvolt-Mitbegründer und -CEO Peter Carlsson. Die aktuelle Kapitalerhöhung eingerechnet, hat Northvolt seit 2017 insgesamt fast acht Milliarden Euro Eigen- und Fremdkapital zusammengetragen.
Namhafte Kunden und ambitionierte Ziele
Derzeit errichtet das Unternehmen Produktionskapazitäten, um Aufträge von Schlüsselkunden wie BMW, Fluence, Scania, Volvo Cars und Volkswagen-Gruppe im Gesamtwert von 55 Milliarden Euro zu erfüllen. Als zentraler Aspekt der Strategie von Northvolt gilt der Aufbau eigener Kompetenzen und Präsenz in der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette der Batterie, einschließlich der Produktion und des Recyclings von Kathodenmaterial. Mit Hilfe eines groß angelegten Wiederverwertungsprogramms möchte das Unternehmen bis zum Jahr 2030 rund 50 Prozent seines Rohstoffbedarfs aus recycelten Batterien decken können.
