Volvo Energy beteiligt sich mit rund 4,7 Millionen Euro am britischen Unternehmen Connected Energy, das in der Speicherung von Energie aus langlebigen Batterien aktiv ist. Damit hält Volvo Energy zehn Prozent des in Norwich ansässigen Second-Life-Batteriespeicherspezialisten und gesellt sich zu Caterpillar Venture Capital Inc, Hinduja Group, Mercuria und OurCrowd als vier weiteren neuen Investoren. Zu den bereits bestehenden zählen ENGIE New Ventures, Macquarie und der Low Carbon Innovation Fund.

„Verbreitung von 2nd-Life-Speichern erleichtern“

„Es gibt ein großes ungenutztes Potenzial in der Zweitverwertung von Batterien“, sagt Joachim Rosenberg, Präsident von Volvo Energy: „Unsere Investition zielt darauf ab, die Verbreitung von Energiespeichersystemen mit Second-Life-Batterien zu erleichtern.“
