Der Batteriezellhersteller Britishvolt hat einen Kaufvertrag zur Übernahme des Zellentwicklers und -herstellers EAS Batteries GmbH mit Sitz in Nordhausen unterzeichnet. Die Vereinbarung mit der Tochtergesellschaft der Monbat-Gruppe umfasst ein Volumen von 36 Millionen Euro und steht unter dem Vorbehalt des Vollzugs der Transaktion und der behördlichen Genehmigungen.
Know-how seit einem Vierteljahrhundert
EAS verfügt über mehr als 25 Jahre Erfahrung in der Entwicklung und Herstellung großformatiger zylindrischer Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen von 7,5 bis 50 Amperestunden. Eigenen Angaben zufolge nutzt das Unternehmen eine kompakte und einzigartige Produktionstechnologie zur Gewährleistung der Qualitätsstandards für seine Hochleistungs- und Energiezellen bei geringster Umweltbelastung.
Speziallösung für außergewöhnliche Märkte
Die EAS-Batterielösungen kommen in Europa, Asien und Nordamerika in der Luft- und Raumfahrt, im Verteidigungsbereich, in U-Booten und in der Schifffahrt sowie in der Automobilindustrie zum Einsatz. Prominente Geschäftspartner wie die NASA sollen die Zellen des Unternehmens bereits nutzen. Diese Akquisition sei die zweite in der kurzen Geschichte des Zellherstellers und die erste im Ausland. EAS solle dazu beitragen, Batteriesysteme schneller in das Marktsegment der Marine-Batterielösungen zu bringen und den Weg zur Dekarbonisierung zu unterstützen, sagt Britishvolt-Gründer und -CEO Orral Nadjari.
