Neun deutsche Unternehmen haben sich im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojekts zur Entwicklung einer neuen Lithium-Ionen-Zelle zusammengeschlossen. Ziel sei es, durch technische Optimierungen die flächendeckende Elektrifizierung des Verkehrs zu beschleunigen. Die verbesserten Zellen sollen hochkapazitiv, schnellladefähig und kostengünstig sein.

Gesamtvolumen von 7,5 Millionen Euro

Im Fokus des Forschungsvorhabens „HEADLINE“ stehe außerdem der Aspekt der Umweltfreundlichkeit und der effizienten Herstellung. Das Unternehmen „EAS Batteries“ koordiniert das Projekt mit einem Gesamtvolumen von 7,5 Millionen Euro. Gefördert wird es durch das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF).

Wertschöpfungskette abgedeckt

In der Entwicklung der HEADLINE-Zelle sollen klimafreundlichere Herstellungsverfahren sowie innovative Materialen, Verfahren, Werkzeuge, Simulationsmethoden und Messtechniken verwendet werden. Ermöglicht werde das durch den gemeinsamen Einsatz und den Know-how-Transfer innerhalb des Konsortiums, dessen Partner die komplette Wertschöpfungskette von der Materialentwicklung bis hin zur Zellproduktion bedienen.

Optimierung für LFP und NCM

Ansätze zur Verbesserung seien etwa die Kombination von neuen hochleitfähigen, flüssigen Elektrolyten für Lithium-Eisenphosphat (LFP) und Lithium-Nickel-Cobalt-Mangan-Oxid (NCM) mit umweltfreundlichen, nicht-toxischen Extrusionsverfahren. Das Projekt ist Teil der Maßnahme „Batterie 2020 Transfer – Batteriematerialien für zukünftige elektromobile, stationäre und weitere industrierelevante Anwendungen“ mit einer Laufzeit von drei Jahren. Das Vorhaben soll bis 30. Juni 2024 laufen.

Die neun Partner im Überblick

Das Konsortium besteht aus der Brabender GmbH & Co. KG (Duisburg), der ECT-Kema GmbH (Schöpstal), der Asahi Kasei Europe GmbH (Düsseldorf), der Daikin Chemical Europe GmbH (Düsseldorf), der IfU Diagnostic Systems GmbH (Lichtenau), der SURAGUS GmbH (Dresden), der IANUS Simulation GmbH (Dortmund), dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Keramische Technologien und Systeme (IKTS) (Dresden) und der EAS Batteries GmbH (Nordhausen).
