Nach aktuellen Insiderinformationen hat SVOLT aller Vorrausicht nach einen Großauftrag von PSA im Rahmen einer Batteriezellzulieferer Vereinbarung gewonnen. Künftig soll der chinesische Hersteller so wohl vermutlich schon relativ zeitnah die Batteriezellversorgung von PSA weiter absichern, bis der Konzern ab dem Jahr 2022 in Kaiserslautern und Dury beginnen wird eigene Batteriezellen für seine Elektrofahrzeuge herzustellen.
Die vorgestellten Informationen zum Geschäft zwischen SVOLT und PSA sind dabei aktuell noch relativ wage. Bis auf die Abnahmemenge an Batteriespeicherkapazitäten in Höhe von 7 GWh, sind kaum weitere Aussagen zum Deal verfügbar. Unklar ist beispielsweise welche Zellchemie genutzt werden soll und wo die Batteriezellen hergestellt werden.
SVOLT, dass erst 2018 aus der damaligen Unternehmensmutter Great Wall Motors ausgelidert wurde, ist heute eines der aufstrebenden chinesischen Batterieunternehmen. Neben den angekündigten Produktionskapazitäten, welche in Höhe von 100 GWh in den nächsten Jahren geplant sind, erzeugt SVOLT auch mit der verwendeten Batterietechnik Aufmerksamkeit. Schon 2019 etabliert SVOLT die NMC 811-Batteriezell im Portfolio. Ebenso im Jahre 2019 verkündete SVOLT seine Ambitionen insbesondere auch den europäischen Markt zu beliefern zu wollen und scheint nun einen namenhaften Partner in Europa gefunden zu haben.
Auf PSA zurückkommend wird SVOLT nur einer unter zahlreichen Batteriezuliefern des Konzerns werden. Aktuell bezieht das Unternehmen heute schon seine Batteriezellen von den beiden Weltmarktführen LG Chem und CATL. Auf Basis dieser Zellen beliefert PSA unter anderem seine Fahrzeugmodelle Peugeot e-208 und Opel Corsa-e mit Batteriezellen.
