Die „Cellforce Group“ als deutsches Joint Venture von Customcells und Porsche AG hat eine Partnerschaft mit „PPG Industries“ geschlossen. Der Materialspezialist aus den USA beliefert Cellforce künftig mit einem innovativen Binder für Kathoden, der den Verzicht auf das umstrittene Lösungsmittel N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidon (NMP) erlaube.
Leistungsfähiger und sicherer
NMP ist in der Fertigung von Elektroden weit verbreitet, jedoch als fortpflanzungsgefährdender Stoff eingestuft. Die Verwendung des neuartigen Binders sorge für leistungsfähigere und sichere Batteriezellen. Zudem wolle die Cellforce Group damit die Effizienz der Produktion steigern und für den Schutz von Beschäftigten sorgen.
PPG mit Hauptsitz in Pittsburgh unterstützt unter anderem Batteriehersteller bei der Entwicklung künftiger Energiespeicherlösungen. Das Know-how des US-Unternehmens deckt eigenen Angaben zufolge die Konstruktion und den Bau von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien vollständig ab und hilft Kunden dabei, die Zelleigenschaften zu verbessern.
