Bundesforschungsministerin Anja Karliczek und NRW-Wirtschaftsminister Andreas Pinkwart haben sich vom Fortschritt der Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle (FFB) in Münster überzeugt. Seit mehr als zwei Jahren entsteht dort ein großes Forschungsprojekt zur Herstellung künftiger Batteriezellen. Die FFB soll langfristig wichtige produktionstechnische Erkenntnisse für den Batteriestandort Deutschland hervorbringen.

Großvorhaben mit 700 Millionen Euro von Bund und Land
Dabei handele es sich um ein „Leuchtturmprojekt“ für die Schaffung einer westlichen „Souveränität im Technologiefeld“, betonte Karliczek bei der offiziellen Eröffnung der ersten FFB-Einrichtungen in den Alexianer-Werkstätten im Zentrum Nord von Münster. Bis zum Jahr 2022 soll der erste vorläufige Bauabschnitt im Hansa-Business Park fertiggestellt sein. Auf dieser Grundlage soll anschließend eine noch größere Forschungsfabrik errichtet werden. Dazu wird das Projekt, das neben mehreren Instituten der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft auch vom Lehrstuhl „Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components“ (PEM) der RWTH Aachen und dem MEET der Universität Münster geplant wird, mit rund 700 Millionen Euro von Bund und Land getragen.

Karliczek mahnt zur Eile bei übrigen Teilvorhaben
„Wenn wir in der Welt im Wettbewerb weiter mitspielen wollen, dann ist nicht die Frage, wer das macht, sondern, wie schnell wir in der Lage sind, diese ganzen Technologien weiterzuentwickeln“, mahnte Karliczek.
