Der chinesische Batterie-Konzern CATL will seine Produktion in den kommenden Jahren weiter ausbauen. Mit einer privaten Aktienplatzierung plant das Unternehmen, rund neun Milliarden US-Dollar für sechs Projekte zur Steigerung der eigenen Produktionskapazität von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien zu gewinnen. Derzeit baut CATL bereits neue Kapazitäten in China und in Erfurt.
Produktion etablieren und Technologie vorantreiben
Neue Batteriewerke sollen laut aktuellen Unternehmensangaben in China entstehen, falls die gewünschten Finanzmittel erreicht werden. Nach der reinen Etablierung neuer Zellfertigungen sei es das Ziel, in die Weiterentwicklung der Batterietechnologie zu investieren. Für den europäischen Markt errichtet CATL mit 100 Gigawattstunden maximaler Ausbaustufe in Erfurt derzeit bereits einen massiven Standort.
Tesla, VW und Geely sind die größten Partner
Insgesamt profitiert der chinesische Batteriehersteller von den anhaltend hohen Wachstumsraten in der Elektromobilität. CATL liefert Batteriezellen an unterschiedliche Kunden weltweit. Zu den bedeutendsten Partner des Unternehmens zählen die Autobauer Tesla, Volkswagen und Geely. Dennoch ist der Markt der Batterieproduktion umkämpft. Die größten Konkurrenten von CATL im Wettbewerb um den Weltmarkt sind ebenfalls im asiatischen Raum beheimatet – unter anderem die koreanischen Unternehmen LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI und SK Innovation oder das japanische Unternehmen Panasonic.
