Auf einer Veranstaltung des Batteriemanagementsystemherstellers NXP, hat NXP CEO, Kurt Sievers, die Zusammenarbeit mit Volkwagen verkündet. Die Zusammenarbeit soll sich in der Zukunft auf die Elektronik der Elektrofahrzeuge fokussieren. Bereits integriert ist ein BMS-System in Volkswagens Modularen E-Antriebs-Baukasten, MEB.

Das System des niederländischen Unternehmens soll Lebensdauer und die Sicherheit der Batteriesysteme verbessern. Das Unternehmen betont dabei die hohe Flexibilität der Batteriemanagementsysteme in Bezug auf die vom Kunden geforderte Anwendungsvielfalt und Skalierbarkeit. Passend zu Volkwagen. Der OEM verfolgt aktuell das Ziel eine Vielzahl von verschiedenen Fahrzeugtypen auf Basis der MEB-Plattform aufzubauen, bekanntestes Beispiel sicherlich der Volkswagen ID.3. 27 MEB-Modelle sind in Summe geplant mit unterschiedlichsten Anforderungen der Volkswagen-Group-Marken VW, Audi, Seat und Skoda.

Mit den in den verschiedenen MEB-Modellen genutzten Batteriemanagementsystemen soll, neben den bereits erwähnten Faktoren, auch die Reichweite und Ladegeschwindigkeit der e-Fahrzeuge verbessert werden. Im Gegensatz zur Technologie unklar blieb in der Pressmitteilung das genaue Volumen des Auftrages. Bekannt ist aber, dass Volkswagen bereits zum Jahr 2025 1,5 Millionen Elektrofahrzeuge auf der MEB-Basis, über alle Konzernmarken verteilt, produzieren möchte, während in der weiteren Zukunft alleine die Marke VW 15 Millionen MEB-Autos bis zum Jahr 2028 verkauft haben möchte.
