Absichtserklärung zwischen Leclanché und Bombardier Transportation für mehr Elektrifizierung im Transportsektor beschlossen. Nicht elektrifizierte Streckenabschnitte des Schienennetzes sollen mit Batterien unterstützt werden.

Das Unternehmen Bombardier Transportation hat für zukünftige Bahnprojekte Leclanché als bevorzugten Batterielieferanten ausgewählt. Die beschlossene Absichtserklärung beinhaltet in den nächsten fünf Jahren ein mögliches Geschäftsvolumen von über 100 Millionen Euro.

Konkret sollen zehn Bahnprojekte mit Batteriesystemen von Leclanché aus europäischer Fertigung in Deutschland und der Schweiz unterstützt werden. Damit sollen die Abhängigkeit der Züge von Dieselmotoren und die Treibhausgasemissionen reduziert werden. Die bisher verwendeten Blei-Säure-Batterien sollen durch Lithium-Ionen-Batterien ersetzt werden. Leclanché prognostiziert aufgrund unabhängiger Studien einen starken Anstieg der Nachfrage nach Batteriekapazität im Schienenverkehr. Die Absichtserklärung der Unternehmen bietet die Chance, nicht elektrifizierte Streckenabschnitte des Schienennetzes autonomer zu gestalten und Dieselantriebe zu reduzieren, auch in Form von Hybridantrieben. Als einer der weltweit führenden Anbieter von Energiespeichersystemen mit Hauptsitz in der Schweiz bietet sich Leclanché als europäischer Partner für Bombadier an.
