Der Batteriekonzern Varta hat sich am Kapitalmarkt rund 51 Millionen Euro beschafft. Insgesamt seien 2,22 Millionen neue Aktien zum Preis von je 22,85 Euro ausgegeben worden, teilte das im SDAX notierte Unternehmen offiziell mit. Bedingung für die Kapitalerhöhung sei eine Einigung mit den Banken, die einem Sparprogramm des Unternehmens zustimmen müssen. Der Varta-Aktienkurs hatte zuletzt bis zu 15 Prozent verloren.
Batteriefabrik-Pläne auf Eis gelegt
Der Zellproduzent war Ende 2022 durch den ansteigenden Kostendruck dazu gezwungen, seine Pläne zum Bau einer Batteriefabrik für Elektrofahrzeuge zu stoppen. Der Neubau soll nun erst nach verbindlichen Kundenzusagen fortgesetzt werden. Eine der größten Herausforderungen seien indes die steigenden Materialpreise, die um 25 Prozent gestiegen seien und 50 Prozent der Gesamtkosten der Batterien ausmachten, hatte Varta-Chef Markus Hackstein im Dezember 2022 im Gespräch mit der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung erklärt.
