Das in finanzielle Schieflage geratene Batterie-Unternehmen Britishvolt hat einen Antrag auf Bestellung eines Insolvenzverwalters gestellt. Dies geht aus einem Gerichtsdokument vom 17. Januar 2023 hervor. Der Antrag ist ein Rückschlag für die britische Automobilindustrie, die laut Beamten und Experten Elektrofahrzeug-Batteriewerke benötigt, um zu verhindern, dass ein Großteil der heimischen Automobilproduktion auf das europäische Festland verlagert wird.

Keine Rettung durch potenzielle Käufer

Britishvolt befand sich vor Kurzem noch in Gesprächen mit potenziellen Käufern, unter ihnen auch einige der frühen Investoren, nachdem das Unternehmen im November 2022 eine kurzfristige Finanzierungshilfe erhalten hatte. Einem Bericht der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters zufolge war am gestrigen Dienstag einem Großteil der Britishvolt-Belegschaft die sofortige Entlassung mitgeteilt worden.
