Der südkoreanische E-Mobil-Batterieproduzent SK On hat eigenen Angaben zufolge noch nicht entschieden, ob er ein Batteriezellen-Joint-Venture mit Ford Motor Co und Koc Holding AS in der Türkei weiterverfolgen werde. Im März 2022 hatte SK On eine entsprechende Absichtserklärung unterzeichnet. Die Tageszeitung „Dong-A Ilbo“ hatte unter Berufung auf eine nicht näher genannte Quelle vor Kurzem berichtet, dass SK On die Idee aufgrund des schwachen makroökonomischen Umfelds aufgeben wolle.

Produktion sollte 2025 beginnen

„Wir haben den Fall des Joint Ventures in der Türkei erörtert, aber die Gespräche sind noch nicht abgeschlossen“, heißt es nun in einer offiziellen Erklärung von SK On: „Die endgültige Entscheidung, ob die Verhandlungen eingestellt werden sollen, wurde noch nicht getroffen.“ Bei der Bekanntgabe der Joint-Venture-Pläne im März 2022 hatte SK On mitgeteilt, dass die Partner eine jährliche Produktionskapazität von 30 bis 45 Gigawattstunden anstreben und die Fertigung im Jahr 2025 beginnen soll.
