Die MAN Truck & Bus SE will ab Anfang 2025 Hochvolt-Batterien für Elektro-Lkw und ‑Busse am Standort Nürnberg in Großserie fertigen. Dafür investiert das Unternehmen in den kommenden fünf Jahren insgesamt rund 100 Millionen Euro am traditionsreichen Produktionsstandort für Verbrennungsmotoren. Die Kapazitäten sollen auf mehr als 100.000 Batterien pro Jahr ausgebaut werden. Durch die Investitionen in den Aufbau der Batterieproduktion sollen mittelfristig 350 Arbeitsplätze entstehen.
Förderung durch das Land Bayern
Zunächst sollen die Batterien in einer Kleinserienproduktion etwa zweieinhalb Jahre lang manuell gefertigt werden. Baubeginn der Großserienfertigung ist dem Konzern zufolge für Mitte 2023 und deren Fertigstellung für Ende 2024 geplant. Unterstützung erhält der Nutzfahrzeughersteller dabei durch die Bayerische Staatsregierung, die für den Zeitraum 2023 bis 2027 zur Energieforschungs- und Technologieförderung einen Beitrag von rund 30 Millionen Euro in Aussicht gestellt hat, soweit die zuwendungs- und haushaltsrechtlichen Voraussetzungen vorlägen. Diese Mittel sollen zur Forschung in den Bereichen Batteriemontage, Zellchemie und ‑entwicklung, Batteriesicherheit und Batterie-Recycling zum Einsatz kommen, um die Nachhaltigkeit der Antriebsart sicherzustellen, heißt es einer offiziellen Mitteilung des Unternehmens.
