Der polnische Batteriekonzern Impact Clean Power Technology (ICPT) hat in Polen mit dem Bau einer neuen Zellfabrik begonnen. Mit der Inbetriebnahme rechnet das Unternehmen für das Jahr 2024. Bei Fertigstellung der hochautomatisierten Anlagen soll sich das jährliche Produktionsvolumen auf fünf Gigawattstunden verfünffachen. Dabei setzt der Konzern auf verschiedene Zellchemien: Sowohl LTO und LFP als auch NMC sollen zum Einsatz kommen.

Klimaschutz als Leitfaden

Mit dem Werk möchte ICPT neue Standards beim Umweltschutz setzen. Die Energieversorgung soll durch eine Photovoltaik-Installation erfolgen, die mit Hilfe eines stationären Energiespeichers stabilisiert wird. Er soll aus „Second Life“-Batteriepacks bestehen, die zuvor in öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln genutzt wurden. Fahrzeuge des öffentlichen Nahverkehrs stellen indes den größten Einsatzbereich der von ICPT produzierten Batteriepacks dar. 2021 waren rund 15 Prozent aller europäischen Elektrobusse mit Packs des polnischen Herstellers ausgerüstet.
