Der chinesische Batteriezellenhersteller Envision AESC plant den Bau einer Gigafactory in der spanischen Stadt Navalmoral de la Mata. Die Anlage soll 2025 fertiggestellt sein und dann mit einer jährlichen Produktionskapazität von 30 Gigawattstunden in Betrieb genommen werden. Eigenen Angaben zufolge will das Unternehmen in der neuen Fabrik hochwertigere, kostengünstigere und kohlenstoffarme Batteriezellen für die weltweit führenden Automobilhersteller produzieren. Envision AESC unterhält langfristige strategische Kooperationen mit zahlreichen internationalen Automobilproduzenten wie Renault, Nissan, Daimler und Honda.
CO2-neutraler Betrieb des spanischen Werks
Als das am stärksten international orientierte chinesische Batterieunternehmen verfügt Envision AESC mittlerweile über eine Reihe großer Produktions- und Entwicklungsstandorte in China, Japan, Großbritannien, Frankreich und den USA. Die neue Fabrik in Spanien soll auf der kohlenstofffreien Systemlösung des Unternehmens basierend zu 100 Prozent mit erneuerbarer Energie versorgt und CO2-neutral betrieben werden.
Gründung eines lokalen Batterie-Ökosystems
Gleichzeitig will Envision AESC ein Batterie-Ökosystem in Spanien ins Leben rufen und die Innovation sowie die Entwicklung von intelligenten Ladeeinrichtungen, Batterie-Recycling und anderen Lebenszyklustechnologien fördern. Das Vorhaben soll durch die spanische Regierung im Rahmen der „Strategischen Projekte zur wirtschaftlichen Erholung und Transformation“ (PERTE-VEC) unterstützt werden.
