Das taiwanesische Batterie-Unternehmen ProLogium plant laut Angaben zweier unabhängiger Quellen den Bau einer Gigafabrik im nordfranzösischen Dünkirchen. Das Werk, das größer werden soll als das bestehende in Taiwan, werde sich auf die Produktion von Solid-State-Batterien konzentrieren. Eine offizielle Bekanntgabe durch Frankreichs Präsidenten Emmanuel Macron wird für den morgigen Freitag, 12. Mai, bei seinem Besuch in Dünkirchen erwartet.

Nordfrankreich künftig Batterie-Hochburg?

Einer der beiden Quellen zufolge soll das Projekt bis zum Jahr 2030 Investitionen von rund 5,7 Milliarden US-Dollar umfassen. Bei der Anlage würde es sich bereits um die vierte geplante Batteriefabrik in Nordfrankreich handeln. Das übergeordnete Ziel sei die Schaffung eines umfassenden Ökosystems in der Region, das von der Produktion von Batterien bis zu ihrem Recycling reicht. Durch das Werk von ProLogium sollen langfristig rund 3.000 Arbeitsplätze entstehen.
