Der serbische Batteriehersteller ElevenEs hat in Subotica eine Produktionsstätte für Lithium-Eisenphosphat (LFP)-Batteriezellen eröffnet. Es sei die erste größere industrielle Herstellungsanlage ihrer Art in Europa, teilte das Unternehmen mit. In dem Werk sollen künftig prismatische LFP-Batteriezellen gefertigt werden, die unter anderem in Elektroautos, -bussen und -Lkw sowie Energiespeichersystemen zum Einsatz kommen sollen.

Zweite Gigafactory soll bis 2027 entstehen

Die Eröffnung der Produktionsstätte sei ein wichtiger Schritt auf dem Weg zum Zwischenziel, die Anlage bis 2024 auf eine jährliche Produktionskapazität von 500 Megawattstunden auszubauen. Innerhalb der nächsten fünf Jahre will ElevenEs zwei Gigafactorys für LFP-Batteriezellen mit insgesamt 48 Gigawattstunden Kapazität bis 2027 errichten. Dies reiche, um jährlich rund eine Million Batteriezellen für Elektroautos herzustellen.
