Die IBU-tec advanced materials AG mit Sitz in Weimar hat einen weiteren Großkunden für ihr LFP-Batteriematerial gewonnen. Das Unternehmen verweist auf einen namentlich nicht genannten „renommierten globalen Automobilkonzern“. Der Vertrag umfasse die Entwicklung und Produktion von LFP-Kathodenmaterial für Elektrofahrzeuge.

„Signifikante Mengen“ ab Mitte des Jahres

Bereits ab Mitte 2023 sollen „signifikante Mengen“ am Weimarer Standort für den OEM hergestellt werden. Neben einigen Zellproduzenten wie Morrow zählt laut Angaben des Unternehmens nun ein großer Automobilkonzern zu den Kunden des Materialspezialisten. Angesichts der Pläne von Volkswagen, ab 2025 LFP als Batterietechnologie für Elektrokleinfahrzeuge zu verwenden, wird in Fachkreisen derzeit spekuliert, dass VW der neue Kunde ist.
