Tesla prüft derzeit offenbar den Bau einer Batteriefabrik in den USA. Einem Bericht von Bloomberg zufolge würde Tesla das Werk besitzen und betreiben, während Batterie-Gigant CATL die Technologie beisteuert. Der Standort der Anlage stehe noch nicht endgültig fest. Es heißt, Tesla ziehe Texas in Betracht, um sein Montagewerk für Elektrofahrzeuge in dem US-Bundesstaat zu beliefern.

Finanzielle Vorteile durch Steuergutschriften

Tesla-Vertreter sollen bereits Gespräche mit der US-Regierung geführt haben, um Klarheit über die Vorschriften des „Inflation Reduction Act“ zu erlangen, die die Regierung in der laufenden Woche finalisieren will. Die Expansionsstrategie von Tesla sieht vor, angesichts der wachsenden Konkurrenz 22 Milliarden Dollar zur Produktionssteigerung und Kostensenkung einzusetzen. CATL als Partner für das neue US-Werk ist mit einem Marktanteil von mehr als 30 Prozent derzeit der weltweit größte Hersteller von Batterien für Elektrofahrzeuge. Das Unternehmen stellt Lithium-Eisen-Phosphat-Batterien her, die eine kostengünstigere Alternative zu Batterien auf Nickelbasis darstellen.
