Das 2020 gegründete Unternehmen „Lithium de France“ mit Hauptsitz im Elsass hat den Abschluss einer Serie-B-Finanzierungsrunde über 44 Millionen Euro bekanntgegeben. Das Unternehmen möchte – ähnlich wie der Konkurrent „Vulcan Energy Resources“ – geothermisches Lithium gewinnen. Eigenen Angaben zufolge hatte „Lithium de France“ erste Explorationsarbeiten im zweiten Halbjahr 2022 abgeschlossen.

Viele Geldgeber stammen aus Batteriebereich

Der Ausbau der Kapazitäten zur Gewinnung von Erdwärme und Lithium seien die weiteren Ziele des Unternehmens, heißt es in einer offiziellen Mitteilung von „Lithium de France“. Ein Großteil der internationalen Investoren ist durch die Beteiligung an weiteren Projekten im Batteriebereich bekannt. Dazu zählen etwa „Equinor Ventures“ und der norwegische Aluminiumproduzent Hydro. Mehrheitlich wird „Lithium de France“ von der französischen „Arverne Group“ gehalten.
