Der finnische Automobilzulieferer Valmet Automotive hat sein erstes Batteriewerk in Deutschland in Betrieb genommen. Das Werk im baden-württembergischen Kirchardt produziert auf einer Fläche von 11.500 Quadratmetern Hochvoltsysteme für Elektrofahrzeuge und Plug-in-Hybride. Die gesamte Produktion am Standort soll CO2-neutral erfolgen.
Flexible Fertigung auf Auftragsbasis
Beim ersten Produktionsauftrag handelt es sich um eine Kleinserienfertigung von Modulen, Packs und Batteriemanagementsystem für die hybride Variante eines Fahrzeugs einer namentlich nicht genannten Sportwagenmarke. Ab Sommer 2023 soll ein Großauftrag eines deutschen OEMs abgefertigt werden.
Drittes Werk ist erstes außerhalb Finnlands
Der Produktionsstandort in Deutschland ist das dritte Batteriewerk des Unternehmens und das erste außerhalb Finnlands. In Salo werden seit 2019 Batteriesysteme montiert; 2021 wurde die Batteriefertigung in Uusikaupunki unter einem gemeinsamen Dach mit dem dort bereits existierenden Autowerk eröffnet. Die Expansion nach Deutschland begründet Valmet Automotive mit der dadurch geschaffenen Nähe zu Kunden und eigenen Entwicklungsstandorten.
