Der Zellproduzent Freyr Battery und die Investitionsgesellschaft Finnish Minerals Group überlegen eine Produktionsanlage für LFP-Kathodenmaterial zu errichten. Die Unternehmen haben zunächst eine Zusammenarbeit vereinbart, um die Möglichkeit einer Errichtung einer solchen Anlage zu prüfen. Zukünftig sei bereits ein Joint-Venture in Planung, heißt es in der Pressemeldung der Unternehmen.

Erweiterung der europäischen LFP Produktion

Die Anlage soll im Industriegebiet GigaVaasa in der Stadt Vaasa errichtet werden. Freyr hat an diesem Standort bereits ein Grundstück von 51 Hektar reserviert. Aktuell wird die Umweltverträglichkeit der Anlage untersucht. Diese Untersuchung betrachtet hierbei die möglichen Kapazitäten von 20.000 Tonnen und 60.000 Tonnen pro Jahr. Der Start der möglichen Produktion sowie der anvisierte Baubeginn sind noch nicht kommuniziert. Derzeitig produziert nur ein weiteres Unternehmen LFP-Material für die Batterieindustrie in einem größeren Maßstab.
