Die Altech Advanced Materials AG plant die Herstellung von Batteriepacks speziell für den Betrieb mit erneuerbarer Energie in gewerblicher und industrieller Netzinfrastruktur. Dies geschieht im Rahmen des Batterie-Joint-Ventures mit dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Keramische Technologien und Systeme (IKTS). Das mit Hilfe von potenziellen Großkunden für Aluminiumnatriumdioxid-Feststoffbatterien entwickelte Akku-Pack ABS60 besitze eine Kapazität von 60 Kilowattstunden und soll über eine Spannung von 620 Volt sowie 100 Amperestunden verfügen.

Mindestens 15 Jahre Lebensdauer

Die Batterien sollen eine zukunftsweisende Alternative zu herkömmlichen Lithium-Ionen-Akkus für die Netzspeicherung und den stationären Einsatz in der Industrie darstellen. Dem Unternehmen zufolge sind diese Zellen feuer- und explosionssicher, haben eine Lebensdauer von mehr als 15 Jahren und funktionieren effizient in extrem kalter Umgebung sowie bei Wüstenklima ohne zusätzliche Kühlung oder Wärmezufuhr.

Batterien „made in Germany“

Die Batterietechnologie verwendet Kochsalz und ist frei von Lithium, Kobalt, Graphit und Kupfer, wodurch die Abhängigkeit von Metallpreisen und Lieferkettenproblemen bei kritischen und zunehmend knappen Rohstoffen entfällt. Die Batterien sollen in Deutschland mit lokalen Lieferketten und umweltfreundlich hergestellt werden. Das ABS60-Batteriepack besteht aus 240 Zellen. Sie besitzen eine Nennspannung von 2,5 Volt, die in vier Reihen zu je zwölf Zellen angeordnet sind, die wiederum jeweils fünf Zellenmodule hoch sind.
