Der slowakische Batteriehersteller InoBat hat eigenen Angaben zufolge Absichtserklärungen mit der serbischen Regierung unterzeichnet. Dabei soll es um eine Fabrik mit einer Kapazität von bis zu 32 Gigawattstunden zur Herstellung von Elektrofahrzeugbatterien gehen. Das Werk soll 2025 mit einer Jahresleistung von vier Gigawattstunden in Betrieb gehen.

350 Millionen Euro je Entwicklungsschritt

InoBat wolle die Batterieproduktionskapazität ab 2025 in Schritten von vier Gigawattstuden aufbauen, die jeweils rund 350 Millionen Euro kosten sollen. Die serbische Regierung habe sich bereiterklärt, das Projekt mit bis zu 419 Millionen Euro zu fördern – einschließlich Zuschüssen und Steueranreizen.

Standortentscheidung steht noch aus

Laut eigenen Angaben will InoBat eine Gigafabrik in Westeuropa und eine in Osteuropa bauen. Im Oktober hatte das Unternehmen mitgeteilt, dass es mit der Regierung Spaniens eine Absichtserklärung zum Bau einer Gigafabrik in Valladolid unterzeichnet habe. Die Erklärung sei indes keine endgültige Vereinbarung, so dass andere Standorte – einschließlich Großbritannien – weiterhin für InoBats westeuropäische Fabrik in Betracht gezogen würden.
