Die Ende Mai vom deutschen Unternehmen „E-Lyte Innovations“ angekündigte Pilotlinie zur Herstellung von Elektrolyten für Batteriezellen soll im Oktober ihren Betrieb in Kaiserslautern aufnehmen. Die entwickelte Anlage soll damit am Standort des Joint-Venture-Partners und Hochleistungsschmierstoff-Produzenten „Fuchs Lubricants Germany“ errichtet werden. Zusätzlich werde in Kaiserslautern ein Werk gebaut, das im Serienbetrieb flexibel mehrere tausend Tonnen Elektrolyt pro Jahr produzieren könne. Die Fertigstellung sei für Ende 2023 geplant.

Ziel: Unabhängige Wertschöpfungskette

Mit der Umsetzung dieses Vorhabens ist E-Lyte das erste deutsche Unternehmen, das dem europäischen Batteriemarkt eine der wichtigsten Komponenten aus europäischer Produktion anbieten kann. „Unser Ziel ist es, dazu beizutragen, die europäische Batteriewertschöpfungskette schnellstmöglich unabhängiger von geopolitischen Ereignissen zu machen“, sagt Geschäftsführer Dr. Ralf Wagner. Eine lokale Lieferkette für Elektrolytösungen sei indes auch aus einem anderen Grund essenziell: Der Elektrolyt verfüge nur über eine begrenzte Haltbarkeit, die sich je nach Komplexität der Zusammensetzung auf nur wenige Monate begrenzen kann.
