Der Lehrstuhl „Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components“ (PEM) der RWTH Aachen hat den ersten europaweiten „Battery Atlas“ ins Leben gerufen. Das gemeinsam mit der Fachabteilung „Batterieproduktion“ des Verbands Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA) entstandene Werk bildet auf rund 20 Seiten das aktuelle Engagement von Zellherstellern, Modul- und Packproduzenten, Zulieferern von Anlagen und Batterie-Aktivmaterial sowie Recycling-Unternehmen und Batterietestzentren ab.

Laut dem Dokument hat sich der Trend zuletzt grundlegend gewandelt, demzufolge zahlreiche Unternehmen in Europa nicht ihre eigenen Batteriezellen produzieren wollten. Den Zellherstellern sei es indes zu verdanken, dass Industriezweige wie der Maschinen- und Anlagenbau sich in Europa stärker etablieren. Zell-, Modul- und Packproduzenten sowie Anlagenbauer profitieren demnach maßgeblich von der entstehenden örtlichen Nähe zueinander.

Hoffnung auf effiziente Recycling-Verfahren und hohe Rückgewinnungsraten

Da zahlreiche Unternehmen aktuell gleichzeitig Batterien entwickeln und dies zu einem äußerst hohen Prüfaufwand führt, bildet der „Battery Atlas“ auch die aktuellen Testkapazitäten ab. „Oft übersteigt der Bedarf die am Markt verfügbaren Prüfkapazitäten“, erklärt Heimes. Die Übersichtskarte der Testzentren könne daher einen Beitrag zur bestmöglichen Einschätzung der Verfügbarkeit beitragen.
