BMW will für die Produktion von Festkörperbatterien mit dem südkoreanischen Zulieferer Samsung SDI kooperieren. Die beiden Unternehmen erweitern damit ihre bereits seit zehn Jahren bestehende Zusammenarbeit im Batteriebereich. Laut dem Branchennachrichtendienst „TheElec“ plant BMW, die Pilotlinie in Deutschland zu bauen. Es sei wahrscheinlich, dass sie im Kompetenzzentrum für Batteriezellen in Parsdorf entsteht.

Treffen mit Anlagenlieferanten geplant

BMW hatte 170 Millionen Euro in das Zentrum investiert. Die südkoreanische BMW-Niederlassung werde sich mit verschiedenen Ausrüstungs- und Materialzulieferern treffen und der Zentrale in Deutschland Bericht erstatten, heißt es. Zu den Lieferanten für die Montage, Festelektrolyte sowie andere Ausrüstungen und Materialien sollen CIS, Hana Technology und EcoPro BM zählen.

Feststoffbatterie von Samsung SDI

Samsung SDI betreibt derzeit eine Pilotlinie für Festkörperbatterien mit dem Namen „S Line“, wobei das S für „Solid“, „Sole“ und „Samsung SDI“ stehe. Der südkoreanische Batteriehersteller beabsichtigt, bis zum Jahr 2023 einen Prototypen herzustellen und ab 2025 zu investieren, heißt es weiter. Samsung SDI rechnet demnach mit dem Beginn der kommerziellen Produktion für das Jahr 2027 und werde Solid-State-Batterien als Premiumprodukte anbieten.
