Der südkoreanische Konzern Posco Chemical soll Britishvolt künftig mit Anoden- und Kathodenmaterial beliefern. Das geht aus einer entsprechenden Absichtserklärung hervor. Die beiden Konzerne arbeiten demnach an langfristigen Vereinbarungen, um die Versorgung des britischen Zellherstellers zu gewährleisten, während Britishvolt mit der Pilotproduktion beginnt.
Liefersicherheiten als zentraler Punkt
Das britische Unternehmen hebt dabei hervor, dass durch die konzerneigenen Minen und Aufbereitungsanlagen von Posco eine stabile Lieferkette sichergestellt sei. Anfang 2022 war bereits bekannt geworden, dass Posco in Zusammenarbeit mit dem US-amerikanischen Automobilhersteller General Motors rund 400 Millionen US-Dollar in den Bau einer Anlage zur Verarbeitung von Kathodenmaterialien investieren will. Alleine dieses Werke solle bis 2025 schon in der Lage sein, mit ihrem Output in Nordamerika eine Million Elektrofahrzeuge auszustatten.
