Indiens größter Elektronik-Recycler „Attero“ will für insgesamt eine Milliarde US-Dollar Recycling-Werke in Polen, den USA und Indonesien errichten. Der Start der polnischen Anlage ist für das vierte Quartal 2022 geplant. In Ohio soll das Recycling ab dem dritten Quartal 2023 und in Indonesien Anfang 2024 beginnen. Mit der Expansion wolle Attero künftig vom Auftrieb der Elektromobilität profitieren.

Massiver Kapazitätsausbau geplant

Durch die Vergrößerung beabsichtige der Konzern zudem, seine Verarbeitungskapazität für Lithium-Ionen-Batterien von derzeit 11.000 Tonnen jährlich bis 2027 auf 300.000 Tonnen zu erhöhen. Das Recycling von Batterien löse nicht nur ein großes Abfallproblem, sondern mache den Wiederverwerter zu einem bedeutenden Wettbewerber in der Materialversorgung von Zellherstellern, erklärt Attero-CEO Nitin Gupta. So könne Attero innerhalb der kommenden fünf Jahre rund 15 Prozent des weltweiten Bedarfs an Lithium, Kobalt und Graphit decken.
