Die BMW Group plant für Herbst 2022 die Inbetriebnahme ihres Kompetenzzentrums für die Fertigung von Batteriezellen. Die finalen immissionsschutzrechtlichen Genehmigungen für das „Cell Manufacturing Competence Centre“ (CMCC) in Parsdorf bei München wurden vor Kurzem erteilt. Zur gleichen Zeit verkündete der chinesische Zellhersteller CATL, ab 2025 Rundzellen für ein neues Fahrzeugsegment an BMW zu liefern.
Prozessanalyse zur Befähigung von Zulieferern
In seinem neuen Kompetenzzentrum will der Konzern die Industrialisierung künftiger Generationen von Batteriezellen nachweisen. Mit der Analyse der Wertschöpfungskette der Zellproduktion sollen Daten und Erfahrungen gesammelt werden, um Zulieferer zu befähigen und auf diese Weise Qualität und Kosten zu optimieren. Indes schließt das Unternehmen eine eigene Batteriezellfertigung in Großserie zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt aus.
Gestaffelter Produktionsstart
Die Inbetriebnahme des CMCC soll gestaffelt erfolgen. In der ersten Phase sollen lediglich die Anlagen für die Elektrodenfertigung installiert und validiert werden. BMW rechnet eigenen Angaben zufolge damit, nach etwa einem Jahr den Hochlaufprozess beendet zu haben um im Jahr 2023 mit der seriennahen Batteriezellproduktion in den Regelbetrieb zu gehen.
Forschungszentrum ist teilgefördert
In die erste Ausbaustufe des Kompetenzzentrums hat der Konzern rund 170 Millionen Euro investiert. BMW erhielt dabei vom Bundeswirtschaftsministerium sowie vom bayerischen Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie Unterstützung im Rahmen des europäischen Förderprozesses IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest).
