Tesla hat mit dem brasilianischen Bergbauunternehmen Vale S.A. eine mehrjährige Vereinbarung über die Lieferung von kanadischem Nickel an den weltweit größten Elektroautohersteller unterzeichnet. Das berichtet „Bloomberg News“ unter Berufung auf entsprechende Quellen.

Preis steigt für Nickel und andere Metalle

Der Preis für Nickel, das für die Herstellung von Batterien für Elektrofahrzeugen unerlässlich ist, war bereits stetig gestiegen, bevor der Konflikt in der Ukraine die Rohstoffkosten noch weiter in die Höhe trieb und Anfang März ein Chaos an der Londoner Metall-Börse auslöste. Auch die Preise für andere Metalle wie Aluminium, Palladium und Lithium, die in Autos verwendet werden, waren in letzter Zeit stark gestiegen.

Vale wächst im Elektrofahrzeug-Markt

Vale lehnte es ab, den Bericht zu kommentieren, erklärte jedoch, dass das Unternehmen derzeit fünf Prozent seiner Produktion an den Markt für Elektrofahrzeuge verkauft. Ferner heißt es, das Unternehmen plane, diesen Anteil auf 30 bis 40 Prozent zu erhöhen.
