InoBat Auto plant den Bau einer weiteren Gigafactory in Westeuropa. Das slowakische Unternehmen erforscht, entwickelt und produziert Lithium-Ionen-Batterien für Elektrofahrzeuge. Für den Standort des neuen Werks kommen offiziellen Angaben zufolge sowohl das Vereinigte Königreich als auch Regionen Westeuropas infrage. Die Entscheidung soll im Laufe des Jahres bekannt gegeben werden.
Pilotlinie entsteht im Westen der Slowakei
InoBat wird in der Entwicklung von Investoren und Technologieunternehmen wie Rio Tinto, Ideanomics, Amara Raja sowie die Weltbank IFC unterstützt und errichtet aktuell eine Pilotline in der westslowakischen Gemeinde Voderady. Die benötigten Produktionsanlagen werden durch den chinesischen Anlagenhersteller Wuxi Lead geliefert. Inwiefern und ob der Partner auch die Anlagen für die neue Gigafabrik stellen soll, ist derzeit unklar.
Nach der Pilotlinie mit einer Kapazität von einer Gigawattstunde und einer Gigafabrik in Bratislava mit dem zehnfachen Volumen wäre die neue Produktionsstätte betreits die dritte Gigafactory des Zellherstellers in Europa.
