Das Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) und das Helmholtzinstitut Ulm (HIU) haben eine Forschungsanlage zur automatisierten und digitalisierten Materialentwicklung in Betrieb genommen. Die beiden Universitäten agieren hierbei gemeinsam im Exzellenszcluster Post Lithium Storage (POLis). Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Entwicklungszeit einer Batteriezelle zu verkürzen.
KI in der Batterieentwicklung
Das Forschungsprojekt trägt den Namen Platform for Accelerated Electrochemical Energy Storage Research (PLACES/R). Nach Aussagen des KIT soll das autonome Forschungslabor durchgehend Batterien fertigen, Grenzflächen analysieren, Daten mittels Künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) auswerten und darauf basierend das nächste Experiment planen.
Gemeinsame Daten
PLACES/R sei somit die weltweit erste vollautomatisierte Plattform zur beschleunigten Forschung zur elektrochemischen Energiespeicherung. Durch die Automatisierung ist eine um den Faktor zehn schnellere Optimierung erreichbar. Zudem soll eine schnellere sowie kostengünstigere Überführung zur Marktreife erreicht werden.
Die gesammelten Daten der Batterieentwicklung werden im Projekt BIG-MAP der europäischen Forschungsinitiative BATTERY2030+ mit 34 Institutionen aus 15 Ländern im geteilt.
