Mercedes-Benz hat in der Nähe seines Produktionsstandortes in Bremen das „Automotive Logistics Center“ eröffnet. Das Zentrum für Batterielogistik sei der Dreh- und Angelpunkt des klimaneutralen Konzepts für die Batteriesysteme des neuen Mercedes-Modells EQE. Ab dem Jahr 2022 werde DB Cargo die in Stuttgart gefertigten Batteriepacks 650 Kilometer weit CO2-neutral nach Bremen liefern. Auch der Transport zum Montageband erfolgt laut offizieller Mercedes-Mitteilung durch elektrische Zugmaschinen.
Güterzug mit bis zu 100 Prozent weniger CO2
Ein einziger Güterzug könne die Fracht von bis zu 52 Lastkraftwagen befördern und spare so 80 bis 100 Prozent des CO2-Ausstoßes im Vergleich zum herkömmlichen Straßenlieferweg ein, betont Dr. Sigrid Nikutta, DB-Vorstand für Güterverkehr. Der Batterietransport stelle eine große Herausforderung an die Logistik dar: Bei hohem Gewicht, sensiblem Handling und sorgsamem Transport sei ein DB-Cargo-Zug das klimafreundlichste Transportmittel. Die Transformation der Auto-Industrie hin zur Elektromobilität wirke sich auf die gesamte Lieferkette aus. Dem Lieferweg über die Schiene komme daher eine neue Rolle zu – sowohl bei der Anlieferung von Bauteilen „im Takt“ als auch bei der Auslieferung fabrikneuer Fahrzeuge.
