Der Industriedienstleister Bilfinger und das Clean-Tech-Unternehmen „Rock Tech Lithium“ wollen im brandenburgischen Gruben einen gemeinsamen Lithiumhydroxid-Konverter errichten. Einer entsprechenden Absichtserklärung zufolge soll Europas erste Lithium-Raffinerie jährlich 24.000 Tonnen des Materials für 500.000 Elektrofahrzeug-Batterien produzieren. Die Planungen von „Rock Tech Lithium“ seien bereits fortgeschritten. Bilfinger werde die Engineering-Leistung für die Anlage sowie die Beschaffungsleistung und das Baumanagement übernehmen.
Projekt seit Oktober 2021 bekannt
Die Produktion von Lithiumhydroxid bilde einen essenziellen Bestandteil einer klimafreundlichen Mobilitätswende, sagt Christina Johansson, Interim-CEO und CFO von Bilfinger. „Rock Tech Lithium“ zeigt sich indes davon überzeugt, sich mit dem Bau der Anlage zu einem führenden Clean-Tech-Vertreter zu entwickeln. Das Unternehmen mit Sitz in Kanada hatte im vergangenen Oktober sein Vorhaben bekanntgegeben und dazu das Grundstück in der Stadt Gruben erworben.
Eigenes Recycling geplant
Die Akteure aus Vancouver planen, das Lithiumhydroxid über die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette hinweg mit den geringstmöglichen Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt zu produzieren. Zusammen mit dem Deutschen Lithium-Institut ITEL hatte das auch in Deutschland agierende Unternehmen eine „Zero Waste“-Strategie entwickelt, die eine Verwertung sämtlicher Nebenprodukte der Lithiumhydroxid-Herstellung vorsieht. In Zukunft wolle „Rock Tech Lithium“ das Material selbst recyceln.
Bilfinger bringt Erfahrung mit
Bilfinger ist als weltweiter Industriedienstleister entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette aktiv. Der Einsatzbereich umfasst sowohl das Consulting als auch die Fertigung sowie die Instandhaltung von Industrieanlagen. Als Referenz aus dem Elektromobilitätssektor nennt der Konzern den Bau einer BASF-Produktionsanlage für Batteriematerialien im finnischen Harjavalta.
