Das chinesische Unternehmen CALB hat angekündigt, seine Produktionskapazität bis zum Jahr 2025 auf insgesamt 300 Gigawattstunden zu erhöhen. Dafür plane der Batteriehersteller derzeit unter anderem eine Fertigungsstätte in Hefei, die eine Kapazität von 50 Gigawattstunden bereitstellen soll. Weitere Standorte seien in Changzhou, Luoyang und Xiamen beheimatet.

Verhandlungen auch mit VW und Daimler?
Für die neu geplante Anlage in Hefei belaufen sich die Investitionskosten dem Unternehmen zufolge auf umgerechnet 3,25 Milliarden Euro. Die dort zu produzierenden Zellen sollen vor allem den chinesischen Kunden aus dem Automobilbereich zugeliefert werden. CALB unterhält bereits Partnerschaften mit GAC Aion, Changan Auto und Geely Automobile. Aus den entsprechenden Ankündigungen geht jedoch auch hervor, dass das Unternehmen in Gesprächen mit Volkswagen und Daimler steht.

F&E auch in Japan, Europa und Nordamerika
Neben der reinen Produktionsleistung solle auch die Forschung ausgebaut werden. So arbeitet CALB derzeit bereits mit dem „Shenzhen Research Institute“ zusammen und plant zusätzlich Forschungs- und Entwicklunszentren in Shanghai, Japan, Europa und Nordamerika, die sich bereits in der Vorbereitung befänden.
