Daimlers chinesischer Batteriezellpartner Farasis hatte geplant, bereits im kommenden Jahr erste Batteriezellen im Werk Bitterfeld-Wolfen zu produzieren. Nun könnte der Bau sich noch um einige Jahre verzögern oder gar komplett scheitern. Auf Anfrage teilte Farasis mit, dass die Europa-Strategie überdacht werden müsse. Hinter den Kulissen gab es im vergangenen Februar Gerüchte über zu schlechte Zellleistungen.
„Passen Terminplanung für Lokalisierung in Europa an“
Wie es konkret am Standort in Sachsen-Anhalt weitergehen soll, ist zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt unklar. Von der Auflösung sämtlicher Batteriepläne bis hin zu einer Teil- oder verzögerten Batteriezellproduktion scheint alles möglich zu sein. Als ausgeschlossen gilt allerdings, dass Farasis sein Werk wie geplant im nächsten Jahr erste Zellen produzieren lässt. „Wir haben uns entschieden, den Hochlauf der Produktion in unserem Leitwerk in Zhenjiang zu priorisieren“, sagte Sebastian Wolf, „Regional President Europe“ bei Farasis in einem Interview mit dem Magazin „Handelsblatt“: „In diesem Zusammenhang passen wir die Terminplanung für die Lokalisierung in Europa an.“
Inwiefern schlechte Batteriezellleistungen ein Grund für die Verzögerungen im Projekt von Farasis sind, lässt sich aktuell nur mutmaßen. Mit Blick auf die im vergangenen Februar erstmals aufgekommene Diskussion hatte das „manager-magazin“ in einem Bericht die Meldung verbreitet, dass Daimler mit seinem Partner Farasis unzufriden sei. Diese Spekulation wurde jedoch sowohl von Farasis als auch von Daimler zurückgewiesen.
