Nachdem Varta im März dieses Jahres angekündigt hatte Batteriezellen für den automobilen Bereich herzustellen, hat das Unternehmen nun seine kommende Zelle „V4Drive“ präsentiert. Die Rundzelle im Format 21700 soll ab diesem Jahr im Pilotmaßstab gefertigt werden. Die Batteriezelle soll nicht nur für Traktionsbatterien, sondern vor allem auch im Premium Hybridfahrzeugbereich genutzt werden.

Vorgestellt wurde die Batteriezelle in einer Online-Präsentation des Unternehmens, in der Varta-Chef Herbert Schein jedoch kaum, im Vergleich zum März, neue Informationen gab. Neu ist, dass explizit eine Powerversion der Batteriezelle erwähnt wird, was also darauf hindeutet, dass es vermutlich auch eine Basisversion geben wird. Unklar hingegen bleibt, wann Varta in die Serienproduktion starten will:
