Neben der Produktion von Batteriezellen wurde in den letzten Jahren auch immer mehr das, im Zuge der Elektrifizierung des Verkehrswesens, kommende Recycling von Batteriezellen erarbeitet. Zahlreiche Unternehmen stellen sich hierzu aktuell auf, zum Beispiel Volkswagen. Der Konzern möchte, nach eigener Aussage, das Know-how zum gesamtem Wertschöpfungskreis der Batteriezelle beginnend bei der Produktion bis hin zum Recycling von Batterien bei sich behalten.
