Nach der Verkündung des BMWi in der letzten Woche ist klar, dass 42 Unternehmen in Europa von Fördergeldern für Batterieprojekte profitieren sollen. 2,9 Milliarden Euro sollen die Fördergelder umfassen und damit die europäische Batterietechnik deutliche voranbringen. Nun scheint klar, dass alleine Tesla über 1 Milliarde Euro der Fördermittel erhalten soll, den Löwenanteil.
Insbesondere durch die Förderung von Tesla soll Innovation mit Massenmarkt tauglichen Projektzielen in der Batteriezellfertigung verknüpft werden, so die Vermutung. Von den Mitteln, die an Tesla fließen, wird, aller Vorrausicht nach, Giga-Berlin erheblich profitieren und es besteht die Chance, dass die Massenfertigung von Batteriezellen des Formats 4680, des neuen Standards in der Rundzelle, Deutschland zu seiner ersten wirklich großen Batteriefabrik bringt.
Trotz aller Euphorie Rund um Tesla erscheint die Fördermittelverteilung bei 42 geförderten Teilnehmern doch erheblich unausgewogen, denn auch andere Projekte haben es in sich. BMW entwickelt zum Beispiel an neuartigen Batteriemodulen- und Batteriesystemkonzepten, hat den Aufbau erster Prototypen-Batterieproduktionsanlagen angekündigt und validiert aktuell die Festkörperbatterietechnik. ElringKlinger entwickelt neue Zellgehäuse und Manz ist seit einiger Zeit schon ein etablierter Maschinenlieferant für Batteriezellproduktionen und arbeitet aktuell an der „Lithium-Batteriefabrik der Zukunft“.
