Britishvolt hat auf seiner Webseite die Zusammenarbeit mit Siemens UK angekündigt. Für das Vorhaben eine britische Batteriefabrik zu bauen soll die Technologie von Siemens genutzt werden. Teil der Partnerschaft sollen vor allem Produkte der Automatisierung und Elektrifizierung von Prozessen im Verbund mit der Technologie eines digitalen Zwillings der entstehenden Fabrik sein.

In der Pressmitteilung wird insbesondere die Technologie des digitalen Zwillings hervorgehoben. Der digitale Zwilling der Fabrik soll dazu dienen, dass die Gigfafactory virtuell in Betrieb genommen werden kann, bevor sie überhaupt steht. Durch die Möglichkeit die Produktionsabläufe zu simulieren können so Schwachstellen in der Planung der Fabrik identifiziert und nachgebessert werden. Hierbei ist ein Punkt der Simulation beispielsweise die Abbildung des Logistikprozesses in der Fabrik.

Die Zusammenarbeit mit Siemens und die Nutzung der weltweiten Expertise in den Bereichen Digital Twin und Simulationstechnologien wird entscheidend dazu beitragen, dass Britishvolt seine knappen Fristen einhalten kann, um bis Ende 2023 mit der Produktion von Weltklasse-Batterien in großem Maßstab zu beginnen.
