Seit langen Jahren ist das IME der RWTH Aachen unter der Leitung von Prof. Bernd Friedrich, neben zahlreichen anderen metallurgischen Bereichen, fachkundiger Experte für das Recycling von Metallen aus diversen Abfallströmen. Seit vielen Jahren schon beschäftigt sich das IME in Forschung und Lehre auch mit dem Thema eines effektiven Recyclings von Batterien. Früher waren dies noch Blei-Säure oder auch Nickel-Cadmium-Batterien, in denen die Reststoff aufbereitet wurden. Heute blickt das IME unter anderen durch Experten wie Frau Lilian Schwich (ebenso im Interview), auf zahlreiche Erfahrungen bei der Aufbereitung verbrauchter Lithium-Ionen-Batterien.

Eine Zukunft der Elektromobilität ohne effektives Recycling? Undenkbar!
