SK Innovation (SKI), dass erst gestern mit einer kommenden Partnerschaft mit Hyundai aufwarten konnte, plant den weiteren Ausbau der Batteriezellfertigungskapazitäten in Europa. Ein drittes Batteriewerk am Standort Ungarn soll nach aktuellen Informationen in der Diskussion stehen. „Wir haben Vorbereitungen zur Identifizierung eines geeigneten Standorts eingeleitet.“, so ein SKI-Sprecher.
Ein großer Kunde von SK Innovation auf den europäischen Markt ist aktuell Volkswagen. Der Konzern drängt mir immer mehr elektrischen Fahrzeugmodellen auf den Automobilmarkt und ist, unter anderem, auf die Zellen von SKI angewiesen. Anfang des Jahres beliefen sich alleine für VW die Bedarfsschätzungen in Bezug Batteriespeicherkapazität auf langfristig 300 GWh pro Jahr.
SK Innovation selbst wiederum betreibt aktuell nur ein Werk in Ungarn, dass am Standort Komarom angesiedelt ist und jährlich 7,5 GWh Speicherkapazität produziert. Das zweite Werk von SKI in Ungarn ist aktuell in der Umsetzung und soll ab dem Jahr 2022 erste Batteriezellen produzieren.
Standort und Umgebung in Ungarn wirken für SKI sehr reizvoll für weitere Kooperationen mit deutschen Autobauern. Denn sowohl Daimler als auch Audi produzieren in Ungarn Autos. Daimler zum Beispiel den CLA im Werk Kecskemét und Audi z.B. den A3 und den Audi TT. Bei fortscheitender Elektrifizierung, aktuell vor allem noch verstärkt in Bezug auf Hybridmodelle in nahezu allen Fahrzeugreihen, liegt der Bedarf an Batteriezellen sicherlich vor.
