Dank der Stärke bei europäischen Automobilherstellern und wegen der mit Tesla geschlossenen Zuliefererpartnerschaft, erwartet LG Chem dieses Jahr einen Rekordumsatz von 11 Milliarden Dollar. Darüber hinaus sieht das Unternehmen seine eigene Zukunft weiter rosig. Bis zum Jahr 2025 rechnet LG Chem mit mehr als einer Verdopplung des heutigen Umsatzes durch Batterieverkäufe.
„Wir haben keine Probleme mit unseren Versorgungsketten und wir können trotz des Corona-Virus alle unsere Kundenbestellungen beliefern,“ sagte LG Chem CEO Hak Cheol Shin in einem Interview, welches er der Nachrichtenagentur Bloomberg gab. Die Aussage verwundert jedoch ein wenig, denn erst im Januar dieses Jahres, also noch vor Corona, hatte das Audi e-tron Werk in Brüssel erhebliche Produktionsprobleme auf Grund der Tatsache, dass LG Chem als Batteriezulieferer nicht genügend Batterien aus dem europäischen Werk in Polen nach Brüssel anliefern konnte.
Diese Schwierigkeiten scheinen heute gelöst und LG Chem schreit auf dem Weltmarkt mit großen Schritten voran. Kontinuierlich hat sich das koreanische Unternehmen an die Spitze der weltweiten Batterieproduzenten gearbeitet und diese vor einigen Wochen erreicht. LG Chem ist in der hoch beschleunigten Welt der Batteriezellhersteller aktuell die weltweite Nummer eins, was vor allem auch, in der nahen Vergangenheit, an großen Aufträgen von VW und Tesla lag. Darüber hinaus baut LG Chem jedoch auf ein sehr weitreichendes Kundenportfolio und sichert sich so frühzeitig neue Beziehungen für den Fall, dass sich Machtverhältnisse in der Produktion von Elektroautos künftig ändern.
