Die beiden skandinavischen Unternehmen Northvolt aus Schweden und Norsk Hydro aus Norwegen, arbeiten künftig im Recycling von Lithium-Ionen-Batterien, in einem in Norwegen bei Frederikstad beheimateten Recycling-Joint-Venture, zusammen. Dazu nutzen die Unternehmen ihre Expertisen zu den jeweiligen Kernprodukten ihrer Portfolien, die zum einen Batteriezellen bei Northvolt und zum anderen eine große Bandbreite an Aluminiumprodukten bei Hydro sind.
Mit dem Namen „Hydro Volt AS“ wird sich das Recycling-Joint-Venture von Northvolt und Norsk Hydro darauf konzentrieren, die Aufbereitung von alten Lithium-Ionen-Fahrzeugbatterien, des weltweit, gemessen am Anteil der Verkehrselektrifizierung, dominierenden Elektromobilmarktes Norwegen voranzutreiben. Der Fokus beim Recycling-Joint-Venture soll auf allen wertigen Bestandteilen der Lithium-Ionen-Batterie im Fahrzeug liegen. Hier soll zum einen die Schwarzmasse und zum anderen das in der Batterie befindliche Aluminium recycelt werden, während die anderen Bestandteile der Batterie an weitere Abnehmer verkauft werden sollen.
Ab dem Jahr 2021 soll das aktuell in Planung von Northvolt und Norsk Hydro stehende Recycling-Joint-Ventures dann den Betrieb aufnehmen. Die Gesamtkosten für die Recyclinginfrastruktur belaufen sich nach aktueller Informationslage auf rund 9 Millionen Euro.

Hydro Volt AS kann Aluminium aus Altbatterien als Teil unserer gesamten Metallwertschöpfungskette verarbeiten, zur Kreislaufwirtschaft beitragen und gleichzeitig den klimatischen Fußabdruck des von uns gelieferten Metalls verringern“, sagt Arvid Moss, Executive Vice President für Energie- und Unternehmensentwicklung bei Norsk Hydro.
