Bei Abruf der letzten vorliegenden Daten auf Seiten der Johns Hopkins Universität gibt es momentan weltweit über 549.000 bestätigte Infektionsfälle mit dem neuartigen Coronavirus COVID-19.
Die meisten Fälle wurden demnach in den USA verzeichnet, mittlerweile dicht gefolgt von Italien und China. Deutschland befindet sich momentan an fünfter Stelle mit knapp 48.000 bestätigten Fälle in allen Bundesländern. Positiv anzumerken sind die mittlerweile über 127.000 Genesenen, insbesondere in der Provinz Hubei in China, wo der Virusursprung vermutet wird. Leider stieg auch die Anzahl der Todesfälle weiter an und zeigt weiterhin die besondere Betroffenheit von Italien mit den weltweit meisten Todesfällen.

Berichten zufolge hat der Autobauer Daimler Kurzarbeit für einen Teil der insgesamt 170.000 Beschäftigten angekündigt in Folge der sich geänderten sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen. Die Kurzarbeit soll nach aktuellem Stand für den Zeitraum 06.04-17.04. gelten.
Volkswagen sowie die Töchter MAN, Porsche und Audi haben ebenfalls Anträge auf Kurzarbeit eingereicht.

Der Automobilbauer Audi hat eine eigene Batteriefertigung in der Nähe seiner Fabriken in Ingolstadt angekündigt. Die Pläne wurden gegenüber dem Branchendienst electrive.net bestätigt. Zellen werden von LG Chem zugeliefert, die ihr Werk in Polen weiter ausbauen, unterstützt durch die EIB.
